February wasn’t a reading month for me this year. I didn't feel like picking up books—not because I didn’t want to read, but because I didn’t want to do anything. Mentally, I feel exhausted from everything, and I'm giving myself the space to just be.
I am, however, still making my way through Conversations on Love by Natasha Lunn, which I started last month. It’s a slow, reflective read—one that I’ll finish when the time feels right.
The book explores themes of solitude, friendship, romance, sex, parenthood, and sibling relationships. While the chapters are quite long, they offer diverse perspectives and thought-provoking insights on love in its many forms.
Sometimes, the best thing we can do is let ourselves rest. That sums up the first 15 days of this month.
Reread: Lallan Sweets by Srishti Chaudhary
I reread Lallan Sweets, and it was just as wonderful as the first time. It beautifully captures small-town charm, family ties, and the struggles of running a beloved sweet shop. The writing is simple yet immersive. I love this book!
I also had the chance to meet her—virtually, for now (but I hope to meet her in person someday). Thanks to TARK—The Literary Society for organizing the session.
Finished Reading: Things My Son Needs to Know about the World by Fredrik Backman
Fredrik Backman is the only foreign author whose work I love even before I start reading it.😊
In this book, Backman writes with his usual charm, wit, and emotional depth, addressing his son through a series of heartfelt and humorous essays. He talks about everyday life—motion-sensitive bathroom lights, IKEA, soccer, being a man, God and airports, good and evil, starting a band, love, friendship, fear, and much more. But beneath the humor, there’s wisdom and warmth in every page.
Overall, it’s a fun and insightful read. If you enjoy Backman’s other works, you’ll definitely love this one too!
With this book, my Backman count reaches six! I’m excited to continue exploring more of his works this year.😊
